PlexSeller Web Extension is a browser companion tool designed to work with the PlexSeller desktop application. This extension monitors file upload activities in your browser and communicates this information to your local PlexSeller system for business tracking and management purposes.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 File Upload Activity Data
The extension monitors and collects the following information when you upload files through your web browser:
- File Information: File name, file size, file type (MIME type), and file extension
- Upload Destination: The website URL and domain where files are being uploaded
- Page Information: Page URL and page title where the upload occurs
- Timestamp: Date and time when the upload activity is detected
- Upload Status: Current status of the upload (pending, uploading, completed)
1.2 Browser Activity Data
To provide core functionality, the extension accesses:
- Active Tab Information: URL and title of the currently active browser tab
- Tab Activity: Information about which tabs are performing file uploads
1.3 Configuration Data
The extension stores locally:
- Connection Settings: WebSocket connection status with PlexSeller desktop application
- Client Identification: Unique client ID and database name for your PlexSeller system
- API Configuration: API endpoint URL for communication with PlexSeller backend
- User Preferences: Extension settings and configuration options
2. How We Use Your Information
The collected information is used exclusively for the following purposes:
2.1 Core Functionality
- File Upload Tracking: Monitor and track file upload activities for business operations
- Desktop Integration: Communicate upload information to your local PlexSeller desktop application via WebSocket
- Backend Synchronization: Send upload data to your PlexSeller backend server for centralized tracking
2.2 User Experience
- Connection Status: Display connection status with PlexSeller desktop application
- Upload Monitoring: Provide real-time visibility of file upload activities
- Settings Management: Save and restore user preferences
3. Data Storage and Transmission
3.1 Local Storage
All configuration data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This data includes:
- Extension settings and preferences
- Connection configuration (client ID, database name, API URL)
- No sensitive personal information is stored
3.2 Data Transmission
File upload activity data is transmitted to:
- Your Local PlexSeller Desktop Application: Via WebSocket connection (ws://localhost:8765)
- Your PlexSeller Backend Server: Via HTTP/HTTPS API calls to your configured API endpoint
Important: All data transmission occurs between the extension and YOUR OWN PlexSeller system (desktop application and backend server). No data is sent to third-party servers or external services.

5. Permissions Explained
The extension requires the following Chrome permissions to function:
5.1 storage
Why we need it: To save your extension settings, connection configuration, and preferences locally in your browser.
What we do with it: Store client ID, database name, API URL, and user preferences. No sensitive personal data is stored.
5.2 activeTab
Why we need it: To detect file upload activities in the currently active browser tab.
What we do with it: Monitor file input elements and track when files are selected for upload in the active tab.
5.3 tabs
Why we need it: To identify which browser tab is performing file upload activities.
What we do with it: Track tab information (URL, title) to accurately report which website is being used for file uploads.
5.4 scripting
Why we need it: To inject content scripts into web pages for monitoring file upload activities.
What we do with it: Programmatically inject scripts that detect file input elements, form submissions, drag-and-drop uploads, and XHR/fetch uploads.
5.5 host_permissions (https://*/*, http://*/*)
Why we need it: To monitor file upload activities across all websites that users interact with.
What we do with it: Inject content scripts into web pages to detect file uploads. The extension only monitors upload-related activities and does not access or modify other page content.
6. Data Security
We take data security seriously:
- Local Processing: All data processing occurs locally in your browser and your PlexSeller system
- Secure Communication: WebSocket and HTTP/HTTPS connections to your own servers
- No External Storage: No data is stored on external servers or cloud services
- Minimal Data Collection: We only collect data necessary for core functionality
7. User Control and Data Deletion
7.1 Disable Extension
You can disable the extension at any time through Chrome's extension management page (chrome://extensions).
7.2 Delete Extension Data
To delete all extension data:
- Go to chrome://extensions
- Find "PlexSeller Web Extension"
- Click "Remove" to uninstall the extension
- All locally stored data will be deleted automatically
7.3 Clear Storage
You can also clear extension storage manually:
- Right-click the extension icon
- Select "Inspect popup"
- Go to Application tab → Storage → Clear storage
8. Children's Privacy
This extension is designed for business use and is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
- Significant changes will be communicated through the extension update notes
- Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy

This extension and privacy policy comply with:
