Asus U52F-BBL9 Notebook, Intel Core i5-460M Mobile Processor, 4GB, 640GB, 15.6-Inch HD+,Webcam,Windows7 Home Premium 64-bit – Re,
I did a thorough amount of research across numerous sites before buying this computer. I read reviews on all the different sites including the industry professional sites. I was a bit concerned with some reviews and discovered, as I often do, that many negative reviews are from those that aren’t to tech savvy. I fall in the middle and to be honest, I moved over to a Mac several years, but I needed a PC for work purposes. That said, for the money this is one heck of a laptop with it’s higher end hardware like the Intel Core i5 processor, 4 gigs of ram, faster video card and very large hard drive, although the numbers got mixed up which I hope Amazon picks up on. It’s a 2 partition set up with 116 main drive and 344 secondary for a total of 460 not 640. Dyslexia is nothing to laugh at, but it can be misleading. Still that’s a lot of drive in total. It was written that directions will be supplied for backing up the OS, but with mine it was just a short cut on the desktop that I was able to figure out was for that purpose. Again, the not so tech savvy people could miss this. Some other issues that were mentioned like the secondary power button not working and needing updated drivers wasn’t an issue nor was the inverted camera. Speaking of which, it came with a cool tech feature that is called Smartlogin which scans your face skipping the typed password. Love that! The full keyboard with number pad is nice as well as the key touch or feel. The mouse pad is better than most PC pads, but not even close to a Mac’s. What’s up with that?! Finally, the screen is pretty nice and the battery life seems sufficient, but it’s new and I don’t expect a lot a year from now. Oh, Windows 7 is the best OS yet thus far, however it took some getting used to coming from XP and a Mac. Overall, it’s a lightweight, well built, quick, powerful PC with plenty of hardware for most people and the price for all this is worth it. Now a days I think you should have at least a dual core i5 or equivalent processor with 4 or more gigs of RAM plus 300+ gig hard drive. I also got the Square Trade 3yr extended warranty for $99…$99!! That was by far the best and cheapest. It, also, got good reviews. I hope this helps everyone doing their research. Be a smart shopper.

WOW!,
The Asus U52F reconditioned laptop arrived a day before estimated delivery. Other than in plain wrap packaging & no factory film on screen(was on camera opening)couldn’t tell it wasn’t a brand new computer. In less than three hours I burned recovery discs(3 DVD), installed my documents & photo,s and was at work on my new computer. This is my second Asus laptop. The WD hard drive crashed, but my six year old Z71A was in perfect working condition. Unable to find a reasonably priced IDE hard drive, I decided to join the 21st century. Boy am I glad that I did. I researched laptops for Two months and in the U52F I found everything I need and more.

Winning !,
I received this laptop about 3 weeks ago and I wanted to wait to write a review about it till I was quite sure I wasn’t misleading anyone about it.
When I received this laptop, like the others will confirm, I had hard time believing it is not a brand new computer. Packaging was flawless and very sturdy. I unwrapped it and started using it immediately after burning couple recovery disks for the OS. First of all computer works perfectly fine up to this point therefore I can say refurbished or not it is a well put together machine.
Technical Stuff;
Cons;
- unlike the specs say the hard drive is actually 460 gig. ( I can’t believe the other commentator received a 116 gig drive, it must be some OS problem cause my “C” drive is that size also.
- Gaming graphics quality is not that great. I installed a game I had sitting on the shelf since 06 just to be able to see what is the limits of this computer. Computer is set to 1366 x 768 32bit resolution and tried to run the game like this, not very satisfying. *(but again since I am not a gamer not my concern)
- It sounds little puny when not connected to a sound system. I watched a movie in the bed with no extra speakers but that is about it, so do not expect a surround sound experience.
Pros;
- This machine is a beauty. I brought it to school with me the very first week ( I am a grad student) for a class. I was in a room with 15 other young professionals and at least 10 of’em have mac of some sort and this machine turned heads for an entire class let me tell you that!
- Screen is aaaamazing, I have never seen this bright and clear screen in my life including my led flat screen in my living room.
- This i5 460m processor with 4gig ram system is a beast. I will be honest with you, i have always been jealous with mac’s smoothness vs pc’s freezing and slowing down issues but this machine no matter how many apps you are running is not getting tired. The only time it gave me little bit of hesitation was the time I realized it was not plugged in so it was running with battery power ( so its conserving energy )
Result;
- In my opinion I made a real good investment buying this machine. I have been using computers since com64, amiga500 era so believe me I know what I am talking about. The graphics supported by intel not very satisfying, sound eeeehh, but quality of the plastic and keyboard and surfaces are really nice. The other machines in it’s class cost about $300 to $400 more so I can say I am winning
